Rewards for Financially Responsible India
About
CRED is a Bengaluru based fintech platform founded in 2018 by Kunal Shah, built around rewarding financially responsible consumers. Initially focused on credit-card bill payments and rewards, CRED has expanded into a broader financial platform covering UPI payments, credit-score tracking, lending, insurance, wealth and personal-finance management. The platform is designed primarily for high-credit-score consumers and currently has around 17 million members, with the company reporting that it processes more than 40% of India's credit-card bill payments. CRED has also built a significant lending business, with around ₹24,000 crore in managed assets for partner financial institutions. In June 2026, CRED raised approximately $900 million in Series H financing led by Meta, taking its post-money valuation to around $4.5 billion. The transaction included both primary and secondary share purchases and made Meta a minority shareholder. Following the transaction, founder Kunal Shah stepped away from his operating role at CRED to take a global leadership position at Meta/WhatsApp, while Miten Sampat became interim CEO. CRED's latest strategic direction is focused on expanding its payments, lending, insurance and wealth businesses while building toward an eventual public listing.
